Summer Reading

I have been reading a number of books this summer that do not fall into the science fiction/fantasy genre.,
Two that I can recommend are Vicki Petterson’s latest The Touch of Twilight which falls into the urban fantasy category. It is set in Las Vegas and combines the battle between light and dark with elements of comics in a very interesting mix. This is the 3rd book in the series and I look forward to the rest of them. Since the concept centers around a Zodiac, I think there may be 12 books in all coming.,
The second book is C.E. Murphy’s Heart of Stone. She has changed main characters and setting. The new book revolves around Margrit Knight, a Legal Aid attorney in New York City. This is another urban fantasy which explores new visions of the dark mythic characters we are used to.,
So if you are bogged down in looking for new authors, give these two women a try.
Lady Jaynes Books

Lady Jaynes Books announces a blog to keep you up to date on what we are doing and on new books that we are reading and enjoying. Let us know if you are looking for any specific books and we can help you search for them if we do not have them. Also, if you are going to be at a show that we will be at let us know if there is something you would like us to bring with us. Give us at least a week lead time so that we can find the book and pack it.
Other books which I have been reading and enjoying lately are: Water For Elephants by Sarah Gruen and also Riding Lessons by her; Robin Hobb’s newest series: Shaman’s Crossing, Forest Mage (Endeavour Award Winner at Orycon 2007) and Renegade Magic; and Alma Alexander’s Hidden Queen and Secrets of Jin Shei.
Movies: I saw Juno before all the hype started and it is really great. It was not the tear-jerker that I had expected and Kimya Dawson’s music is the perfect counterpoint to the story. Walk Hard is every bit as funny and entertaining as the trailers have been. Don’t miss it!!!
